Two weeks ago, Gwen and V found themselves in the wrong universe. Meeting yet another Spider-man. And getting asked a ton of questions. Gwen didn't mind. Venom got a little pissy. But, from Gwen's point of view, that was expected.

She was, after all, a complete stranger to this universe and for once, it didn't really seem like they had a way home. Which probably meant they were here for a reason. So they came up with some bullshit cover story and now she was Gwendolyn Maximoff. Adopted daughter to Wanda and Vision, and student at hte same school Peter went to.

She had some great noise-cancelling headphones, medication that imitated the chemical V needed to stay alive. And friends.

Well...a friend. A friend that she was glad to have met. A friend that V made comments on whenever he was around. Comments about how Gwens heart has started racing when Peter was around, and how him just calling to say hi or invite her out to an arcade or something brought a spike in her happiness.

To which Gwen regularly told V to shut the flying fuck up.

And V only laughed and went silent.

SO after a week or so at Peter's school, meeting his friends and occasionally running through town as Phantom-Spider, they'd established a close approximation of a routine.

Part of that routine was quickly becoming her favorite and now Gwen was sitting outside of the school, waiting for Peter. She had her noise-cancelling headphones in and her phone out to make it look like she was on a phone call and not in fact arguing with the alien in her body.

"We're going to be nice today, right? We're gonna let me be me, and you just sit back and enjoy the ride?"

"I can't guarantee that."

"What? Yeah, you can. Of course you can. You just say 'Gwen, I promise to let you and Peter have a good afternoon out and I won't interfere.'"

"This doesn't sound like chasing the bad guys. This sounds stupid."

"Yeah, well...not everything is about saving someone's day. Sometimes, it's about relaxing and just enjoying life."

"I enjoy chasing the bad guys!"

"And I enjoy being a sixteen year old teenaged girl, hanging out with her friends."

"He's approaching. From your left."

"Are you going to behave?"

"...fine."

At that, Gwen smiles and nods her thanks, taking her headphones off and putting them away, turning to look at Peter with a grin.

"It's your day to decide what we do, by the way."

The home invasion was still pretty fresh in Gwens mind, but eventually, all LawRusso kids had to go home. While time with Nonna Lucille and time with Grandpa Miyagi had been great (when isn't it), the kids still had things to do at home. So Mr Miyagi dropped them all off, telling them to call if they needed anything, and while Robby went off to do something with his friends, Gwen and Sam spent maybe five minutes in their own home before deciding to go back out again.

They were home long enough for Gwen to assess damage to her drum kit, realize it actually was completely totaled and then they got in Gwens car and left.

Now wandering the Reseda Mall fairly aimlessly, Gwen and Sam head to the food court. This place wasn't nearly as stressful as home was right now, the security and safety of their home still feeling uncertain to Gwen, even with the knowledge that both her dads can and will kick ass and neither herself nor her siblings were incapable of handling her own. But Gwen vaguely remembers a fight in the food court just a few months back.

She was hungry, though, and aimed to get some fried chicken from Popeyes. Turning to look at her sister as they waited in line, she offers her best friend a small smile.

"You good?" Gwen was certainly feeling a little better after the karate invasion at home and the short stay-cation they took at Mr Miyagi's house and Grandma Lucille's house, but that was still a lot to recover from. So she's going to worry and make sure her sister was okay.

She'd already done the tour of school about a week ago and now it was Gwen Stacy's first actual day. Though, does it actually count as a first day of school if she only made it in time to get lunch? In her defense, she did have a dentist appointment at nine am, and now she was walking through the cafeteria. Ready to eat lunch with a ton of strangers, if she couldn't find Miguel.

Heading to the cafeteria should be terrifying enough. This was, after all, an entirely new setting for her. She went from New York to Reseda in a matter of weeks and that should be enough to shake anyone. But Gwen wasn't really keen on showing it. This wasn't her old school, that much she was aware of, so there'd be maybe one familiar face saying hi to her in the halls at the moment.

Possibly two.

That was fine. She could make friends as she went.

With her lunch tray in her hand, and gracefully stepping out of the way of someone almost backing into her, Gwen heads for the first table she spots, with only one person sitting at it. With as full as the cafeteria is, it was a little surprising to see this kid sitting by themselves, but whatever. Gwen's going to sit with this kid.

Setting her lunch tray down across from him, Gwen (dressed in her favorite black "I wanna be where the people aren't" tank top and skinny jeans) tucks her legs under the table and extends her hand. "Hi, I'm Gwen."

Yes, Demetri, the girl with the eyebrow piercing and blonde hair is talking to you.

With everything going on, a couple days away from karate gang wars might just be what the doctor ordered. Or, it could be a grand exercise in unsupervised chaos. Either way, the next three nights and four days are going to be interesting.

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to the first annual (and probably last ever) Eagle Fang/Miyagi-Do camping trip!

It seems as though Sensei Lawrence and Sensei LaRusso decided this camping trip would be a great way to create team bonding. Which...maybe?

Or, they brought a bunch of keyed up, feral teenagers into the woods and everything that can go wrong will.

For example, sleeping arrangements. While it was wise in theory to put girls with girls and boys with boys, some of these teenagers are dating and the rest of them just aren't the best at listening.

Also, they're smart. If there's a loophole in the rules, they will find and manipulate it.

At the same time, these kids are actually good kids. It's probably best to assign tasks to various groups. One is responsible for picking up firewood from the camp's small shop. Another is responsible for keeping the camping sites clean.

You get the picture.

So, after the last week of school, this is where most of the Miyagi-Do kids will find themselves. At a lovely campground two hours away from Reseda. There's swimming in both the pool and the giant lake. The camp shop has some of the best ice cream and junk food around. There are hiking trails, a frisbee golf area, and two of the nights at camp will have outdoor movies (the first nights movie being Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom the original the less family friendly Deadpool). Entry is a dollar, there's freshly made popcorn included in the price of admission.

Just please be mindful of the free-range feral karate kids. They travel in packs, are ridiculously loyal and really aren't in the mood for anything ruining their camping trip.

Not even the rain on the third night.

Throw up a top level, tag around. Have fun. Get into trouble.

Y'know. The usual Cobra Kai bullshit.

Gwen's first two weeks in California were fairly uneventful. She got registered for school, missed the first day because of a stomach virus and therein missed a full in school riot. She doesn't regret that. She wouldn't have wanted to be involved, anyway.

There were shopping trips with her grandparents to get stuff for her bedroom, and time spent with some of the local teenagers getting a feel for where people hang out. And during a lot of these outings, both with her grandparents and her new friends, there was a boy. Just seen in passing, but she'd certainly noticed him. How could she not? The mohawk was badass, he had a cute smile. But she never seemed to be able to head over to say hi. Either her grandparents needed her, or she was dragged away by friends to the next whatever.

As far as she could tell, the only thing she could do was hope he went to her school. She'd definitely try to say hi then.

For today, since it was a Saturday, Gwen had decided to stay home. Her brothers and her dad went out to run errands and Gwen uncovered the drum set that sat in their garage, surrounded by her karate and ballet trophies.

With her laptop playing music nearby, Gwen sat and played along. She realizes it's probably irritating the neighbors, drumming isn't exactly quiet, but Gwen needs the moment to unwind, and this song happened to be one of her favorites. Not a single beat is missed when she's drumming, a soft smile on her face as this is her zen and peace and even between taps of her drum sticks, she manages a couple tricks, twirling the sticks between her fingers or tossing them and catching them before they're needed for another beat.

She's not entirely lost in the music, however, because movement catches her attention and she looks up.

Her drumming stops, the song continues and she points with her drumsticks at the guy standing just outside of her garage.

"Okay, now? Now I think you're stalking me, whoever you are."

That...that's not how you make friends, Gwen. And how did you make this sound flirty? What's your secret?

[ If Gwen was aware she was broadcasting this conversation, she’d be more pissed off than she already is. But the blonde girl with the bloody lip and bruises on her face doesn’t have a single clue. She’s too busy being Big Mad at something the other girl nearby is telling her. ]

Wait...wait, just...let me process for a second.

[ Seconds over. ]

She went after you in your dads dojo...right? Like that’s...where you disappeared to?

[ Sam was equally unaware they were broadcasting at the moment, she’s kind of trying to process everything that the people at the Welcome Center had told them.]

Yeah, I ran. I didn’t want to face her again...but then she grabbed the num-chuks and broke Mr. Miyagi’s picture and I’d had enough.

Wait...are we recording right now? Or going live? How did that happen?

[Sam turns her attention to the screen, which is definitely broadcasting the two girls who look like they’ve been in one HELL of a fight. ]

Oh wow, we are.

I’m Sam, this is Gwen. Please ignore everything you’ve heard up to this point.

We’re new here.

[The second Gwen realized they were broadcasting for all the town or whatever to see, she’d groaned dramatically and swore colorfully, tilted her head back and slung one arm over her face. And then winced and pulled her arm back down. With the bruising on her forearm, she probably wants to get that looked at.

When she’s introduced, she gives the camera a wave and a very annoyed and tired smile.
]

What’s good, people? We’re from California. Just uh...showed up? I guess?

[ She turns to look at Sam for confirmation and kinda nods a bit. ]

Yeah. Anyway...uh… I don’t even wanna talk to anyone, Sam. This is bullshit.

[ Another sigh and some soft grumbling, a shake of her head. She’s feeling angry, and for good reason. ] Listen. We need to get home because people there are stupid and need protecting from themselves. So if anyone can help there? That'd be epic.

[ And with that, she turns the broadcast off. She thinks. God she hopes she did. ]

[ ooc: Welcome to the spider-kai girls first intro post! Sam is in red. And Gwen is in blue. both girls are from near the end of S3 so there might be spoilers. ]

Unbeknownst to Gwens paternal grandparents, they were the heroes of the poor movers that were helping the Stacy's into their new home. Not that anything was entirely wrong? But Gwen was over-tired and on the wrong time-zone and one of the movers had dropped one of her drums. The drum was fine. Gwen was officially keyed up and watching the movers closely. To the point where she was getting a bit underfoot.

So Gwen's dad called his mom. His mom told Gwen to pack a bathing suit, beach towel and extra change of clothes, and within an hour, Gwen was at the Oaks on the Beach. If Gwen were really going to be honest? She wasn't entirely fond of the place.

Sure, the beach was great, and the pool was nice. But rich people clubs weren't her thing, much like her dad. For the sake of Mrs Stacy, her grandmother, she was going to try, if only because she'd been told there were kids her age there and she'd potentially meet schoolmates.

So it's at the buffet table when it happens. Scrolling through her phone to shoot a message back to her neighbor across the street, some kid runs by and knocks her phone out of her hand. From the shout that happened from someone else a second later, Gwen's assuming the kids name is Anthony. And whoever Anthony was? They'd vanished, leaving Gwen to search for her phone herself.
